Kia donates Souls to MADD

Kia Canada Inc. says it is putting Mothers Against Drunk Driving Canada in the driver’s seat with its sponsorship of a national school program designed to educate students on the dangers of driving impaired.

Kia is donating the use of eight vehicles to MADD, including four 2012 Kia Soul urban utility vehicles dedicated for use by field representatives who will travel to schools to deliver the organization’s anti-drinking and driving message. Additionally, four 2012 Kia Sedona vans will be used by chapters across the country to promote local awareness of anti-drinking and driving activities and events.

Each vehicle will be wrapped in the “I Pledge” finish that will allow students to sign the vehicle as a way of showing their commitment to never drive under the influence. To further complement the program, a Facebook page – Facebook.com/kiacanada – has been created encouraging students and all Canadians to take the pledge.

2012 Kia “Best Buys”

Kia has built up a solid reputation of producing quality, fuel efficient vehicles at an affordable price, and while it’s one thing for them to talk about it in their ads and press releases, it’s quite another to have that hard work and dedication recognized by a trusted, reliable source.

That recognition came this week in the form of 4 Kia vehicles being voted “Best Buys” by Consumer’s Digest, a leading consumer resource for automotive reviews. The cars which were given the honor were the 2012 versions of the Optima, Soul, Sorento and Sportage, and the news completed a great October for Kia, who once again managed to set another sales record, which now makes 14 consecutive months of upward sales trends.

Kia Motors America vice president of marketing and communications Michael Sprague expressed the company’s delight with the showing in the magazine, stating that the recognition proves that awareness of the company brand, and their commitment to quality, is very much on the rise.

In order to come up with “Best Buy” tag, Consumers Digest takes into account a number of important factors, which usually boil down to purchase price and ownership costs, comfort, performance and utility.

There was much to admire in all 4 of the recognized vehicles, but there were some definite things in each that set them apart from the other cars in their class.

The 2012 Kia Optima is loaded with high tech features such as an Infinity audio system, HD radio and the Microsoft powered UVO infotainment system. Combine that with fantastic fuel efficiency and a huge list of safety features, all for a starting price of $19.500, and it’s easy to see why it made the list.

The Sorento CUV has all the same technological features as the Optima, and also has an interior that is on a par with a luxury vehicle valued at twice the price of the Sorento’s $21.250 starting price tag.

The funky Kia Soul crossover has taken the performance of its class up a notch with new 1,6L GDI engine and increased horsepower, yet still 35 MPG highway, and all for an incredibly low $13.900 MSRP.

The 2012 Sportage is a perfect mixture of power, style and sleek design, and still manages to provide that remarkable fuel efficiency that has become the staple of every Kia vehicle. It also boasts the cool technological upgrades and industry leading safety features, yet still manages to come in at a mere $18.500 starting price.

As great as the “Best Buy” accolades are, it would seem that Consumers Digest are simply stating the obvious, because if you look at the sales increases for the past 14 months, it’s pretty obvious that the average car buyer knew a best buy when they saw it.

That, combined by positive reviews from consumers and industry insiders has helped propel Kia to new highs in sales and service. Public perception of the Kia brand has improved dramatically during that period, and now that they have turned their attention to their used cars, we can probably expect to see it rise some more.

On October 24th, Kia Motors America announced that it had chosen Carfax to provide vehicle history reports for every car in the Kia Certified Pre-Owned -CPO program. This means that buyers can be sure than any Kia vehicle they buy through the nationwide network of dealers will have a detailed, accurate history, which will go a long way towards providing piece of mind when purchasing a used Kia car.

The vice president of Carfax Joe Koenig expressed his company’s pride at partnering with Kia, saying that they were delighted to get the chance to partner with a company that held the same commitment to customer care and service. Although that partnership has just been announced, all Kia dealers participating in the CPO program were required to start running Carfax Vehicle History Reports on October 1st.

The vehicles that are eligible for the program must have less than 60.000 miles, pass a rigorous 150 point inspection and be no more than 5 years old. Those cars will also be eligible for Kia’s outstanding 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty, as well as a 10 year roadside assistance package, regardless of mileage.

All the vehicles that meet the details of the CPO program will also be eligible for the Carfax Buyback Guarantee, which means that every CPO car will be proven to be free of DMV-reported title brand, or else Carfax will pay to take the car back. Kia Motors America vice president of sales, Tom Loveless, said the extended CPO warranty, combines with the protection of the Carfax vehicle report added a level of quality and service that would help Kia dealers quickly turn shoppers into buyers.

By partnering with Carfax, Kia became the 32nd automaker to align themselves with the History Report Program, and with 25 years in the business of protecting consumers, Carfax are the ideal choice for Kia, a company that prides itself on a high level of customer service.

KIA MOTORS AMERICA’S OFFICIAL SPOKESPERSON AND BASKETBALL ALL-STAR BLAKE GRIFFIN SHOWCASES ATHLETIC PROWESS AND COMEDIC STYLE IN NEW OPTIMA ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN

Professional Basketball Player Takes It to the Next Level

  • 30-second spot featuring Griffin makes its television debut today
  • “Time to Shine” is first of five campaign spots and includes broadcast, digital and social media elements

IRVINE, Calif., October 20, 2011 – When basketball All-Star Blake Griffin dunked over a Kia Optima during the 2011 NBA Sprite® All-Star Slam Dunk contest, he achieved instant notoriety for his athletic prowess and basketball talents, while the stylish and performance-oriented Optima sedan continued its ascent with its head-turning design translating to record sales. As a playful homage to this iconic dunk, Kia Motors America (KMA) kicks off another new piece of the overall 2012 Optima advertising campaign today with the debut of “Time to Shine,” a 30-second spot that humorously showcases Griffin’s athleticism in a stunt using a powerful Optima to tow inline skate-wearing Griffin to a ramp that catapults him in the air to a 45-foot-high basketball hoop, where he dunks the ball. Created by David&Goliath, KMA’s advertising agency of record, and renowned director Paul Hunter, who is credited with award-winning advertisements, “Time to Shine” is available now at http://www.youtube.com/Kia and makes its television debut today on a variety of prime time, late night and cable programming.

  •   “There is an inherent link between the youthful style and performance attributes of the Kia Optima and the extraordinary talent and athleticism displayed by Griffin in every game,” said Michael Sprague, vice president of marketing & communications, KMA. “The Kia Optima is not your average midsize sedan and Blake Griffin is not your average spokesperson or athlete, making the memorable connection in the 2011 Sprite Slam Dunk competition the perfect launching point for a playful follow-up to a spectacular feat.”

The partnership with Griffin also increases Kia’s presence in professional basketball following the brand’s extension and expansion of its relationship with the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 2010.
